THE PILLAR OF THE SPIRITUAL
For man these components are The Five Pillars of Man, when cultivated and harmonized, lead to a physically, emotionally and spiritually enriched life giving us happiness, the goal (the aim) common to all.
Once human thinking, conduct and action are consistent with these Pillars, happiness is a reality not based on the fleeting glitter of this world.
The Pillar of the Spiritually, of Faith, is as essential as food and shelter, The Pillar of the Physical. Failure of one leads to the failure of the whole. Man dies as the flower dies without water.
Studies by National Geographic and Pew Research Center have concluded faith gives people meaning, purpose, moral guidance, community connection, promoting mental and physical health. Faith causes people to be civically engaged, offering a moral compass. As faith increases, rates of depression, suicide, substance and alcohol abuse decrease.
Researchers have found a strong link between faith and happiness as seen in a study of inmates at San Quentin. And it does not matter whether the faith be Christianity, Judaism, Hinduism, Islamic, Buddhism or other faith.
Reasons given for these findings revolve around faith satisfying a fundamental human urge, or perhaps a better word, need.
Happiness does not happen by itself. It is a goal demanding a sincere effort using the right means to this end. The means used throughout the world are all over the place, but the goal remains the same. The means to happiness is personal, but the goal of happiness is universal.

The parts of the human machine are The Five Pillars of Man, one of which being The Pillar of the Spiritual, though demanding The Pillar of the Physical, that which is necessary for healthy physical and mental well-being living with a sense of purpose. It is difficult to be intellectually, emotionally and spiritually strong with a weak physical pillar.
